Electrical Systems for New Diesel-Electric TSHD1000

Share this item:

Gebhard Electro has been awarded the complete electrical scope for a new TSHD1000 (Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger) being built by Damen Shipyards for UK Dredging, part of Associated British Ports. The vessel will be deployed for maintenance dredging operations across ports in the United Kingdom.

Based on Damen’s proven TSHD1000 platform, this vessel combines diesel-electric propulsion with an integrated Energy Storage System (ESS), delivering improved energy efficiency, lower emissions and greater operational flexibility.

Complete Electrical Scope

Gebhard Electro will be responsible for the complete electrical installation and system integration of the vessel. Our scope includes:

  • Electrical installation
  • Electrical system integration
  • Water-cooled drive systems
  • Energy Storage System (ESS) integration
  • Testing and commissioning support

By combining engineering, panel building, installation and system integration, we provide a complete electrical solution tailored to the demanding requirements of the maritime industry.

Building on Proven Experience

This project is particularly significant for Gebhard Electro. We previously delivered the complete electrical installation for a conventional diesel-powered TSHD1000. Being selected again for this next-generation vessel allows us to build on that experience while contributing to a more advanced and sustainable configuration of the platform.

Looking Ahead

We are proud to continue our collaboration with Damen Shipyards and appreciate the confidence they have placed in our team. Together with all project partners, we look forward to delivering another successful vessel that supports the future of efficient and sustainable dredging operations.
